Supporting Small Businesses in Unprecedented Times - My Recommended Vendors for 2021

What a year 2020 has been. Words cannot even begin to describe the challenges each and every one of us (globally) have had to navigate. Some curve balls thrown have hit harder than others.

I am not blind to the privilege of my circumstances. It’s true - I haven’t been able to see my family in-person in over a year. And that has been really freakin’ hard. What has remained a blessing is the fact that all of my loved ones have continued to be relatively healthy and safe. The heartbreaking reality is that many families are now missing a loved one. And man I wish I could take away that pain.

For those of you who don’t know me personally may not know that photography isn’t my main source of income. I work full-time at a children’s hospital in the paediatric cancer and transplant space. While difficult at times, working in healthcare has allowed me to remain employed full-time with a roof over my head and food in my belly throughout this pandemic. My parter (like many others), while employed again now, wasn’t immune to the economic consequences and faced a layoff early on.

I am believer that in life we have a responsibility as a collective to support each other through hardship, be it a pandemic or otherwise, including helping to sustain local, small businesses.

I often get asked for recommendations from clients planning their wedding or looking to get a little gussied up for their shoot. In the spirit of supporting one another I have compiled a listing of colleagues in the photography/event industry whom I either know personally or admire and unequivocally recommend.
